Cantaloupe Citrus Cooler with Ginger

No matter where you are living in the world, chances are that you, too, have been experiencing one of the hottest summers of your life. I’m here to offer you this summer refreshment to make it a little more bearable.

This drink is a riff on a traditional Persian drink usually made in the summer when cantaloupes and other melons are at their sweetest prime. The traditional version is made with cantaloupe juice and sugar, but this version eliminates the sugar, balances out the sweetness of the cantaloupe with the tartness of orange and lime juice, while the addition of ginger gives it its kick. So make a pitcher and stay cool!

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cantaloupe or other melon, cubed
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 1 inch knob of ginger, peeled and roughly chopped (more or less depending on how gingerly you like things)

Recipe:

Combine all ingredients in a blender, and serve. What a recipe!
